When it comes to making moves in the NIL world, it seems like more schools are hiring people responsible for handling all NIL duties for their respective universities.

Look no further than what Seton Hall has done this past week to bolster its NIL department.

Bryan Felt, Seton Hall’s director of athletics, hired Michael McBride as the new deputy athletics director for compliance and student-athlete development. He will also have a heavy hand in developing Seton Hall’s NIL offerings.

“I am thrilled to welcome Mike to the Seton Hall family and have him be at the forefront of our NIL enterprise,” Felt said in a statement. “Mike brings extensive collegiate athletics experience to our department and will be directly involved in the oversight of Seton Hall athletics NIL initiatives and strategy as well as marketing, development, sales, fan engagement and communications. He is the perfect fit to navigate our department through the rapidly changing NIL landscape and position us for success.”

McBride has a background with a multitude of organizations including Turba Sports where he served as the chief brand officer and helped lead the company to 12 new collegiate and corporate partnerships in 2022.

McBride also has prominent experience and success with other universities prior to joining Seton Hall. When working for the University of Houston, McBride served as the senior associate athletics director for external affairs, where he helped modernize their external unit which resulted in the making of an ESPN+ studio, which also includes record ticket sales for the school and an immense revenue generation and overall better fan experience.

McBride also spent prominent time at Auburn where he helped revamp the school’s department of sales, marketing and creative initiatives which resulted in the school generating better fan experience and ticketing retention.

Prior to his work at Auburn, McBride spent time with Under Armour where he served as the senior manager of collegiate partnerships. McBride was responsible for helping lead the negotiation and execution of highly renowned agreements with 18 universities including a partnership with Seton Hall dating back to 2014.

While it was a short one-year stint, McBride still made an impact with MGM Resorts International where he delivered $18 million in new sales.

“I am excited to join the Seton Hall athletics family and make an impact on the department, especially in the NIL space,” McBride said in a statement. “Thank you to Bryan Felt for this opportunity to come to an incredible university situated in the world’s greatest market competing in the best basketball conference in the country. It’s truly an honor, and I’m ready to help the athletics department and especially our student-athletes, take the next step in maximizing everyone’s potential.”
