The defense has been the talk of spring practice so far for Pitt football.

On the South Side, the intensity continued to rise on the defensive side as the Panthers returned outdoors at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex for the final week of spring practice.

In Pitt’s third spring scrimmage over the weekend, the defense wound up victorious yet again, improving to 3-0 as they’ve donned the blue practice jerseys throughout the spring.

Under the direction of defensive coordinator Randy Bates, the Panthers defense is going to be heavily relied upon once again in the fall as the offense will need to find its footing under a new offensive scheme.

Following Tuesday’s practice, Pitt will hit the field one last time on Thursday before taking part in the Blue-Gold Spring Game on Saturday, April 13 at Acrisure Stadium.
