Pitt football is just over one week out from its Blue-Gold Spring game and just two days away from its second closed scrimmage of the spring and first-year offensive line coach Jeremy Darveau is working to sharpen his unit.

During spring practice No. 11 at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex on the South Side, Darveau was driving through reps for his offensive line group that worked on drop steps, one-on-one technique and progression drills.

Darveau was vocal with his players as he looks to transform a unit that had its struggles last season, albeit due to injuries and constantly moving pieces.

The offensive line unit will be relied upon heavily to help move forward this new-look, up-tempo offense under first-year offensive coordinator Kade Bell. Thus, the offensive line will need to put it more work to prepare for those quick in-game drives.

Darveau and Bell’s work with Western Carolina last season produced one of the more explosive offenses in college football.

Redshirt junior Terrance Moore is expected to start at center this season after logging nine starts a year ago. At guard, BJ Williams and Ryan Jacoby, who is not participating in spring drills due to an injury suffered prior to last season, will flank the center.

On the outside, Ryan Bear, Branson Taylor, Terrance Enos Jr. and Jackson Brown will all rotate through the tackle position.
