West Virginia’s coaching staff has reached out to 2023 four-star forward Marcus Adams Jr., a source tells WV Sports Now. Adams requested out of his National Letter of Intent from Kansas on Sunday.

“I want to thank Jayhawk Nation and coach [Bill] Self and [Kurtis] Townsend for being a great help in my development and time here. Your support showed me a lot. To the fans, thank you for all the help with the mind and the in-person love. I would like to request a release from my National Letter of Intent in order to find out where I truly belong. It was a hard decision. I decided it would be best for me mentally and for my family. I will re-open my recruitment as well. Thank you and please respect my decision,” Adams wrote on Twitter.

Adams (6-foot-7) is from Harbor City, Ca. and attended Narbonne High School. Adams is a top 50 prospect in the class of 2023 after reclassifying up in March. Adams included Syracuse and UCLA in his original top three with over 20 Division-I programs recruiting the talented prospect.

Adams has four years of eligibility remaining.

West Virginia’s coaching staff is getting creative with filling out the final spots on the roster recently. WVU has reached out to Abdullah Ahmed (C – Egypt), DeMarr Langford Jr. (G – Boston College), Ibrahim Mohamed (G – Egypt), Ofri Naveh (F – Israel) and Victory Onuetu (C – Spain). Naveh met with WVU on a Zoom call on Sunday.
