The Pittsburgh Steelers had a clear plan for the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Troy Fautanu out of the University of Washington was ranked by some as a top 10 prospect and found his way down the board in round one. That left General Manager Omar Khan with no other choice but to select him with the 20th overall pick. It wasn't a sexy pick, but a necessary one. Now, the organization has complete the revamp of the offensive line and welcomed a new name to the Steel City with the selection of Zach Frazier out of West Virginia University.

The pick proves that assistant general manager Andy Wiedl is bringing the Philadelphia Eagles approach regarding dominating the trenches to the forefront of roster development.

Frazier played in 47 games for West Virginia and was highly-regarded as one of the top three center prospects in the 2024 draft class. Some even had him at the top of their boards when it comes to the position.

Steelers Looking To Finally Replace Maurkice Pouncey As Leader On Offensive Line

Maurkice Pouncey will certainly be a Hall of Fame candidate one day. It's up for debate whether he will wear a gold jacket one day, but overall, the selection of Kendrick Green and signing of Mason Cole were utter failures. Frazier will be a plug-and-play guy and no matter what the organization says, he should already be expected to snap the ball to Russell Willson once the 2024 NFL season kicks offs.

Are you a fan of what the Steelers decided to do in the second round?
