The Tennessee Volunteers are the top team in the country again.

The Vols ascended to the number one ranking in all the major polls.  D1 Baseball has the Vols at the top spot, along with Baseball America and Perfect Game.

Tennessee claimed the top spot by taking two out of three against the Florida Gators over the weekend.  The teams played a double header on Friday after getting rained out on Thursday night.  The Vols claimed the afternoon game 6-2 before dropping the night game 4-3.

They erased a 3-0 deficit in the rubber match on Saturday evening on the strength of an 11-run sixth inning where Tennessee sent 14 batters to the plate.  Tennessee's first and second all-time home run leaders Christian Moore and Blake Burke made sure the game would end early with home runs in the seventh inning, as Tennessee run-ruled the Gators 16-3 after seven innings.

Previous number one Texas A&M dropped two out of three at defending national champion LSU, who's struggled this year with a 9-15 SEC record (31-18 overall).  Arkansas missed their chance to claim the top spot by losing two out of three at Kentucky, dropping the rubber game on Sunday 7-4.  The Wildcats sit one game ahead of Tennessee in the SEC East at 18-6 and #4/6 overall in the country.

Clemson, who Tennessee defeated in their regional last year, sits at number two in D1 Baseball's rankings and 3 and 4 in Perfect Game and Baseball America, respectively.

The work begins to try to stay on top of the mountain for the Volunteers, who face Queens University of Charlotte on Tuesday before going to Nashville to take on the Vanderbilt Commodores.  The Vols finish their SEC slate at home the next weekend against #13/16 South Carolina.
