The Ohio State football team has its Spring Game on Saturday, April 13th. This will be the first time that the Buckeyes will play in public with their new lineup. It will be the first time that fans get to see Will Howard in a Buckeye uniform throwing to receivers who could actually be first-round picks.

Ohio State football fans won’t be the only ones who get to see this Spring Game. It was announced that instead of Big Ten Network carrying the game like they usually do, it will actually be broadcast on Fox. That’s right, Fox. This will be the first time that a Spring Game will be on network television.

The Ohio State football team will have a nationally televised Spring Game

This is something new for the Ohio State football program that breaks barriers nationally. It wasn’t all that long ago when the Big Ten were the first ones to create their own network for a conference. Now, every conference has one. The Big Ten is now having programs be big enough that one of the main four networks wants to broadcast a Spring Game.

Another good thing about this news is that there are no barriers for Ohio State fans to watch this game. They just need an antenna to watch it. No subscriptions, cable, or satellite. Just a good, old-fashioned antenna or digital TV. That means that Ohio State football fans all across the country will be able to see this new roster for the first time.

I’ll be very interested to see what the ratings are for this. How many viewers care enough to watch on network TV? Will this spark something for other networks to do? Could CBS do this with another Big Ten team too? There are all kinds of questions that I want answers to.

I’m excited for the Spring Game and now my excitement is even higher.
