In what was being billed as the most anticipated Ligue 1 fixture of the season, Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique de Marseille finished with a scoreless draw on Sunday.

The two sides had promising sequences over the course of the match, but in the end, they each could not muster up a mere goal in the contest.

PSG defender Marquinhos has mixed reactions from this edition of Le Classique. While he sees that his team defended well in the match, the side did whiff on several key goal-scoring chances.

In speaking after the match (via Prime Video Sport France), the Brazilian defender reflected on takeaways from the 0-0 result.

“We came here to win,” Marquinhos said. “It was more difficult at the end of the match with one less player. We had a few chances and were able to hold onto the ball, but weren’t able to convert. We were able to keep a clean sheet, at the end of the game we looked to counter.”

“It’s difficult when you’re down a man. You have to be more united. Everyone gave it their all to defend well. We tried to score, but it was difficult.”

PSG now looks ahead to a key league fixture against Lille OSC.
