The Duke Blue Devils defeated the North Carolina Tar Heels 96-72 to win the 1999 ACC Tournament Championship. It was the Blue Devils' 27th consecutive win, as they finished 32-1 and undefeated in the ACC. Elton Brand was named Tournament MVP and he had 24 points and 13 rebounds in the championship game. William Avery scored a game-high 29 points, to go with five assists, four steals, and three assists. Shane Battier added 13 points, eight rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Max Owens led UNC with 22 points, three steals, two assists, and two rebounds. Ed Cota had five points and 11 assists.
