Crewe Alexandra manager David Artell has been singing the praises of Celtic midfielder Scott Robertson as the on-loan Bhoy continues to make a big impact at the League One side. Artell, reckons that his on loan Celtic Star has been the Man-of-the-Match for three consecutive matches and while remaining non-committal on Robertson’s chances of ultimately making it at Celtic – saying that’s not his business – the Crewe gaffer reckons that the player is doing absolutely everything right so has a great chance.
Speaking to his club’s own official website Artell had this to say about Robertson. “Scott’s character is bang on. He listens intently and he looks at you and you know he is taking it all in. There is no noise going on in his head when you speak to him.

“He wants to listen and learn and when you are like that then you are only going to get better.
“He was terrific again on Saturday. Really, really good and he was absolutely shattered in those last five minutes because he had run himself into the ground. He has probably been our best performer in the last three games but he knows that has to continue.
“He knows he has to maintain those levels but he has come here, taken things on board and his attitude to the work is first class,” the Crewe boss added.
On the question of Scott Robertson’s ultimate goal, making the breakthrough at Celtic, Artell had this to say: “Now if he will be good enough to return to Celtic and get into their team, I don’t know and that is their business because I know what a massive club Celtic are and how difficult it is to play at that level, but if he keeps working hard then he is only going to impress those who make those decisions.
“He is in his third spell in League One and I said on Saturday, we have a real gem of a player on our hands.”

While Robertson is on a season long loan there may be an option to recall him early should Ange Postecoglou consider that the midfielder’s progress is such that it can’t be ignored. And Celtic are certainly light, to say the least, in terms of numbers and overall quality in the middle of the park. Yet it’s probably more likely that Robertson will stay at Crewe for the season and develop under a manager who has taken a real shining to the young Celtic Star.
