The Tennessee Vols baseball team had another dominant weekend, sweeping Illinois after outscoring the Fighting Illini 38-7 during a three-game series.

Tennessee is now 16-1 on the season with their only loss coming during the opening weekend of the season (an extra innings loss to the Oklahoma Sooners).

The Vols' big weekend combined with a couple of top five teams having a rough week (Wake Forest, Florida, and TCU each lost two games this past week) has Tennessee ranked No. 5 in the new Top 25 rankings from D1 Baseball.

It's still extremely early in the season. And we saw last year when Tennessee struggled early in the year that results in February/March don't matter much when it comes to who reaches Omaha.

But still, it's nice to see Tennessee baseball off to a hot start. If this team continues on the path it's on, they should absolutely be viewed as one of the favorites to reach the College World Series later this summer.
