The Wisconsin Badgers football program has set its season opponent for the 2028 season.

Marshall University announced that the Herd will play UW on September 2nd, 2028, at Camp Randall Stadium.

When Wisconsin football and Marshall meet in 2028, it will be the second all-time matchup between the two programs. The Badgers emerged victorious in their first-ever matchup, defeating the Herd 51-14 in 2008.

This matchup adds to Wisconsin’s growing list of future non-conference opponents. UW will have matchups against Western Michigan, South Dakota, and the first leg of the Alabama series when the 2024 season begins, with all three matchups coming at home.

In 2025, the Badgers will take on Miami of Ohio and Middle Tennessee State at home before facing the Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa to wrap up the home-and-home series.

Then, in 2026, it will be Western Illinois, Pittsburgh, and Notre Dame, with the matchup against the Fighting Irish taking place at Lambeau Field in Green Bay.

UW also has three non-conference opponents set for 2027, with games against Southern Illinois and Colorado State at home and a matchup against Pittsburgh in Ireland.

Beyond that, the Wisconsin football program has a matchup against Utah in 2028 and 2033, as well as a home-and-home series with Virginia Tech in 2031 and 2032.
