As we all wait patiently for the second half of the final season of 'Yellowstone' to hit our televisions, all eyes are on creator Taylor Sheridan's next projects.
'Landman' is currently in production, and it has a star-studded cast that will be sure to shine. Demi Moore and Billy Bob Thornton will lead the way in the story about the West Texas oil industry.
Another A-lister could be on the horizon as the next to be enlisted to lead a Sheridan spinoff. According to Yahoo Entertainment, an insider said that Sheridan is "desperate" to get Matthew McConaughey onboard.
McConaughey, 54, is in high demand across the industry, but a Western-style show and teaming up with Sheridan seems the perfect fit for the proud and native Texan.
“Matthew wants to be a part of the franchise; he’s a big fan, but he wants to flesh out his character more and has other ideas of his own to pass along,” says the insider per Yahoo.
“Taylor and his colleagues are scrambling to make it work.”
The new spinoff is also trying to bring back some of the show's most beloved cast, such as Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly (Beth and Rip Dutton). But according to the same Yahoo source, both Hauser and Reilly, along with McConaughey, have salary requests that they are unwilling to budge on.
The salary concerns make sense, as Yellowstone has become one of this century's most-watched and highest-grossing shows. Its spinoff featuring McConaughey could take it to new heights.
Whether McConaughey will eventually join the cast is still up in the air, but creator Sheridan is surely desperate to have him.
