Former Crystal Palace owner, Simon Jordan says Daniel Levy understands who he selected when he made Antonio Conte the newest Tottenham manager.

Because of that, the Italian’s admission that there is a lot of work to do at the club following the 2-1 loss to NS Mura would not surprise the chairman.

The former Chelsea boss inherited a talented, but underperforming set of players at Spurs and was outraged by their performance last night.

After the game, he said “the level at Tottenham is not so high” as reported by Express Sports.

Jordan believes the side he put out against Mura was more than capable of beating the Slovenian side.

But Conte’s post-match comments did not surprise him and he warns Levy to expect more of it.

“If you’re Daniel Levy, you would know what you’ve signed as a manager. If you didn’t then you shouldn’t have taken him on board,” Jordan said on TalkSport.

“Because I don’t assume Antonio Conte was a shrinking violet in the negotiations about what he wanted from Tottenham.

“From how much he gets paid, who he brings with him to what he expects the support mechanism to look like.

“Whatever you say about not being a magician, please don’t tell me that squad isn’t good enough to beat that side yesterday.”

The Boy Hotspur Says

Conte has inherited a very poor Tottenham squad even though we like to think our players are better than they actually are.

He needs all the support he can get from the club to make this team good again and I suspect that will cost some significant money.

Ideally, the flops from yesterday’s match shouldn’t play for us again, but it’s over six months before the summer transfer window reopens.

We can only pray Conte gets good performances from them between now and the end of the season.
