Inter are conceding far too many goals in away matches this season.

This is the verdict of today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who argue that the Nerazzurri’s fatal flaw has been their inability to keep things tight at the back in big away matches.

The Nerazzurri conceded twice to fall to their fifth defeat of the Serie A season against Juventus yesterday evening.

Of the other four, three came in away matches, with Inter failing to take points in their travels against Lazio, Milan (technically an away game at the San Siro), and Udinese.

In all of these matches, the Nerazzurri have shown that they can leave gaps, and especially after conceding the first goal, tend to chase the game too much and leave even bigger ones.

At the San Siro it has been a different story as the only teams to score against them at home have been Cremonese and Roma.

However, away from home the defensive issues are glaring, and whether or not they are fixed could end up defining the Nerazzurri’s season.
