Justin Herbert’s first rushing TD of the season closes gap with Browns

Let’s go Herbie!

NFL: Cleveland Browns at Los Angeles Chargers Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

On a second-and-goal from the Cleveland Browns nine-yard line, Justin Herbert took a shotgun snap, worked through his progressions, and pulled the trigger to scramble off the left side around a pair of Cleveland defenders to score a nine-yard rushing touchdown. The score on the ground was Herbert’s first of the 2021 season and helped minimize the lead for the Browns.

With the score at 27-19, Brandon Staley chose to go for a two-point conversion to put the game within six points. Herbert found Donald Parham, standing open just on the other side of the goal line to make it 27-21 with a little over six minutes left in the third quarter.

The Browns defense has done a decent job of limiting the Chargers offense, but the unit keeps finding ways to keep this thing close and most of that production is coming off the back of the team’s franchise quarterback.
