Kylian Mbappe has been linked with a move to Anfield for several years now but it seems like the story is finally coming to an end.

Liverpool have only really faced competition from one club this whole time, Real Madrid.

Mbappe has made it very clear that he was a Madrid fan since a kid and he idolised the Real legend and former manager, Zinedine Zidane.

Whilst Zidane was at the Spanish club it always felt like it was just a matter of time before he signed for them.

That was until Zizou resigned as Real Madrid manager and it seemed like overnight Liverpool were back in the race for his signature.

British journalists have constantly denied this is even possible. The stories have mainly been coming from France and Spain regarding The Red's interest to the World Cup Winner.

The thing that got Liverpool fans more excited about the possibility of Mbappe playing at Anfield was his decision to leave PSG, either this summer for a fee or next summer for free.

PSG are still confident about tying the 22-year-old down to a contract but reports from very reliable journalists would argue the contrary.

One of Real Madrid's most reliable sources, José Luis Sánchez, has recently said that Mbappe has made the decision to play for Real Madrid.

Sanchez doesn't usually report on rumours unless it is near completion, so this is bad news for Liverpool fans.

It's a shame that Mbappe won't be in a Liverpool shirt anytime soon. Most Liverpool fans knew it was a pipe dream but it's the hope that kills you.
