The Phoenix Suns pulled off an unforgettable season last year, making their way to the NBA Finals after putting up a .708 regular season winning percentage. Almost nobody saw it coming, which only made it that much more enjoyable for the Phoenix faithful.

But we all know, the Suns fell short of their ultimate goal, as Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks raided and pillaged them inside during a four game stretch which led to their demise.

But regardless, a basketball championship might still come to The Valley this year. Currently tied at at one game a piece with the Chicago Sky, the Phoenix Mercury only need to win two more contests to win their third WNBA championship.

This marks the first time one city’s team reached both the NBA and WNBA Finals during a single year since 2002. What a time for Arizona basketball fans.

Over the past few days though, the Suns themselves showed their abundant support for the Mercury, being their fellow hoopers from Phoenix.

Most notably, Devin Booker, Chris Paul, Jae Crowder,  Dario Saric, and Cameron Johnson all hit the sidelines to root for the Mercury during their overtime victory during Game 2. Immediately after the game, WNBA legend Diana Taurasi greeted them all, still ecstatic over her team’s monumental victory.

But aside from their presence at the game, the Suns have also made it more feasible for others to show out for Mercury games. During the Mercury’s Semifinal series against the Las Vegas Aces, Paul purchased 500 tickets, giving them away to fans for Game 3. The Mercury went on to win the contest by an assertive 80-67 score.

As he does so frequently on the court, Ayton followed Paul’s lead, and also purchased 500 fan tickets for the Mercury’s first WNBA Finals game.

Part of another best of five series, tonight’s Game 3 WNBA Finals matchup carries great magnitude. The Sky will surely come out swinging, but one thing’s for sure, the Mercury will do the same, and the Suns will be watching.
