EL PASO — Phoenix Rising continue their road trip, visiting El Paso Locomotive FC for their fourth match of the USL Jägermeister Cup on Saturday night.

Oakland Roots SC’s three-game winning streak came to an end with a 2-1 defeat to Phoenix on July 12 in USL Championship action. Oakland’s Morey Doner started the scoring early with a goal in the 27th minute. The Roots took a 1-0 lead against Phoenix into the second half.

Rising’s Ihsan Sacko scored their first goal in the 60th minute to tie the match, while Charlie Dennis’ goal in the 79th minute gave Rising the lead.

This was the first time this season Phoenix trailed and then came back to win all three points.

Phoenix is in third place in Group Two in the Jägermeister Cup with a 1-1-1 record and five points.

El Paso

El Paso couldn’t hold off Sacramento Republic FC’s offense in their match on July 12, falling 3-0. Sacramento’s Sebastian Herrera broke the scoreless tie with a goal in the 44th minute. The Locomotive had 57% possession in the first half but only had two shots.

Sacramento continued to pile on goals, with one in the 75th minute from Michelle Benítez and in the 92nd minute by Cristian Parano.

The loss was El Paso’s second straight loss.

The Locomotive have one draw and one loss in the Jägermeister Cup, with two points.

Last Encounter

The last time both clubs played against each other was on March 15. Phoenix and El Paso ended in a draw, 4-4, with El Paso’s Franco Daroma scoring the equalizer in extra time to force the draw.
