2020 Masters rescheduled for November

The golf world has been flipped upside down amid the coronavirus outbreak. The Open at Royal St. George's was canceled, the PGA Championship was moved to August, the U.S. Open to September and now the Masters Tournament will get a new date.

The Masters will be resechduled for Nov. 12-15, and it seems that it wasn't a difficult decision.

"We want to emphasize that our future plans are incumbent upon favorable counsel and direction from health officials," Fred Ridley, Augusta National and Masters chairman, said, according to ESPN's Bob Harig. "Provided that occurs and we can conduct the 2020 Masters, we intend to invite those professionals, and amateurs who would have qualified for our original April date and welcome all existing ticket holders to enjoy the excitement of Masters week."

The PGA Tour hopes to return in June with the Memorial Tournament, but the dates, at the moment, are unclear.

At this point, every major golf event has either been canceled or postponed for the safety of patrons and competitors.

The Open will not be played for the first time since 1945, but it will be played in 2021 at Royal St. George's and the 150th Open will be played in St. Andrews, Scotland, in 2022.

Tiger Woods will be the reigning Masters champion for a little while longer. When the tournament begins in November, Brooks Koepka, Rickie Fowler, Rory McIlroy, Phil Mickelson and Jordan Speith will give Woods a run for his money.
