Bayley would love to see AJ Lee wrestle again.

Following CM Punk’s shocking return to WWE, many members of the WWE Universe have begun to speculate about the potential return of his real-life wife, AJ Lee. Lee, a three-time WWE Divas Champion, retired from in-ring competition in 2015 after sustaining significant damage to her neck. Nearly a decade later, wrestling fans remain eager to see Lee make a comeback.

In a recent interview with the New York Post, former WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley spoke about the possibility of seeing her close friend return to a WWE ring.

“I think the fans just want to keep putting it out in the universe,” Bayley said. “[Lee is] so sweet. She won’t get their hopes up, either, she says never say never, but that goes for everything. She still looks so good in the ring. I got to have a little five-minute match with her back in the day and she is so smooth and she’s so crisp.”

“So having her back there as a professional would be really cool to see how our characters would work nowadays. But as an athlete, just to be in there with someone like her would be so much fun, especially at the level I’m at now [compared] to 2013 Bayley. She was just a deer learning how to walk.”

While it’s unclear if Lee will ever return to WWE, Bayley recently welcomed the possibility of Lee eliminating her from the 2024 Women’s Royal Rumble, which takes place on January 27.
