Bryson DeChambeau not planning to play in Travelers Championship

The golf world has become a weird and dramatic one over the last few months, and that drama reached new heights over the last few weeks as some of the world's top pros either gave up their PGA membership to join the breakaway LIV Golf league or spoke out vehemently against it.

The one golfer who doesn't seem to have a clear stance on the matter is Bryson DeChambeau.

The world No. 28 golfer reportedly joined the Saudi Arabia-funded LIV Golf Invitational Series last week but did not play in the league's first event in London and is non-committal about whether he will be in the PGA Tour Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands next week.

"As of right now, I'm not playing next week," DeChambeau told ESPN on Wednesday ahead of the first round of the U.S. Open at The Country Club at Brookline.

Despite the PGA Tour suspending 17 golfers last week for participating in LIV's first event in London, the USGA decided to invite all eligible golfers to participate in the U.S. Open, including DeChambeau, who won the event in 2020.

Although he hasn't committed to the Travelers Championship, it is expected that DeChambeau will compete in the next LIV event, which is set to take place in Portland, Ore. next month.
