Bryson DeChambeau to miss Players Championship following API withdraw

Make that two consecutive PGA Tour events that Bryson DeChambeau has withdrawn from due to lingering injuries.

The No. 12 golfer in the world officially withdrew from The Players Championship set to take place at TPC Sawgrass this weekend, right on the heels of not defending his title at the Arnold Palmer Invitational last weekend.

"Almost ready," the eight-time Tour winner told Golfweek, adding: "Getting ready for something big. Many plans in the works."

DeChambeau cited lingering injuries as his reasons for not playing in last weekend's API, saying in a video posted to social media that it was a "tough decision" to withdraw but that he "doesn't want to go out there and hurt myself even more."

The Modesto, California native has missed multiple events recently because of a variety of injuries. This has caused many to question whether his intense workout and training regimen has finally caught up to him -- claims which DeChambeau has vehemently refuted in very on-brand fashion.

It isn't clear what "many plans" or "something big" DeChambeau is alluding to in his comments. Of course, the vague remarks will no doubt reinvigorate rumors he wants to leave the PGA Tour for the Saudi-funded Super Golf breakaway league. Although DeChambeau has said he wanted to stay with the PGA Tour because that's where the "best players in the world" play, he remains tied to any and all rumors involving the rival league.
