Cameron Smith buys fan new phone after breaking old one at FedEx St. Jude

With all the negative energy and lawsuit-filing in the golf world these days, it's nice to get a break from the chaos and hear a feel-good story for a change.

Enter Cameron Smith, who reportedly bought a fan a new phone after smashing the fan's thumb and breaking his old phone with an errant drive at last week's FedEx St. Jude Championship.

The fan, Blake Krassenstein, chronicled on Twitter how Smith gave him an autograph and then wrote down his cell number so he could buy him a replacement phone. Krassentstein followed up this week to show that the phone had arrived.

Krassenstein's story is both a refreshing story on the golf front as well as nice news for Smith during a week when the headlines have not been so positive. The Aussie, currently ranked No. 3 in the FedEx Cup standings, had to withdraw from this week's BMW Championship due to a lingering hip injury. Meanwhile, rumors continue to swirl that the 2022 Open Championship winner is planning to leave the PGA Tour for the breakaway LIV Golf Invitational.
