Rickie Fowler is currently experiencing a challenging period on the golf course. The six-time PGA Tour has struggled heavily in recent times. After finishing T64 at the Zozo Championship and T17 at the Hero World Challenge, the golfer has continued to be on a decline.

In 2024, Fowler failed to make the cut at the American Express and the WM Phoenix Open. Whereas he finished tied 56th in the 59-man field at The Sentry and T47 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. This has led to a question on whether he could make a career resurgence in 2024?

It is no secret that the talented golfer has struggled in his first four starts. As a result of this, his ranking in the Official Golf World Rankings (OWGR) has taken a huge hit. Currently Fowler finds himself at 178th position.

This drop in rankings could further jeopardize his chances of making it into the majors tournaments. So the answer to the question on whether he can have a career resurgence currently rests on his mentality.

Several golfers in the past have gone through this struggling phase. One of his close friend Justin Thomas went through it too. The two-time major champion had a dismissal performance in 2023 but has shown signs of a recovery in recent time.

Fowler will need to make some changes with this game of his, or else he might fade away in the vast golfing world. At the moment, he is participating in the Genesis Invitational. This tournament at the Riviera could be a good opportunity for him to remind everyone of his skills through a strong display.

Rickie Fowler opposes Rory McIlroy’s stance on the return of LIV golfers to the PGA Tour

Recently Rory McIlroy caused quite a stir when he completely changed his stance on LIV Golf. The four-time major champion claimed that LIV Golfers should be welcomed back to the PGA Tour without any punishments.

This sentiment of him though was not shared by many including Rickie Fowler who opposed this idea. Fowler had been one of the players who largely stayed away from the chaos of LIV Golf.

During AT&T Pro-Am 2024, he expressed his opinion, stating that moving on or returning is not a straightforward path.

As far as decisions to go elsewhere and just welcome back, I don't think it's a direct road. They made decisions — there has to be something for it. Rickie Fowler on LIV Golfers coming back to PGA Tour as per SB Nation.

This words of him were further backed by Justin Thomas and current World No.1 Scottie Scheffler. Thomas would even go on to say that he would have a problem if those golfers returned without any punishments.

This words of Fowler also comes after he himself was rumored to leave the PGA Tour and join LIV Golf. A major reason for this talk had been due to his split with sponsorships with Rocket Mortgage and Farmers Insurance. He would later turn down this talks and claimed he had “zero plans to go anywhere“.

Fowler now turns his attention towards the Genesis Invitational. In this signature event, he is currently one of the 15 golfers tied at 28th spot following a Round one score of 1-under 70. The tour pro will now be hoping this form of his carries on towards Round two where things will get more intense to avoid the cut.
