Golf best bets: Four top props for the FedEx St. Jude Championship

Golf prop bets went well at last week's Wyndham Championship. I hit only two of my four prop wagers, but one of them was a +900 bomb on Webb Simpson top finish inside the top 10. Now that we've got some extra spending money, let's put it to good use with four more prop bets for this week's FedEx St. Jude Championship.

Rickie Fowler top-20 finish (+100 DraftKings)

I'm surprised we're getting even money on this prop. Rickie Fowler has been in immaculate form all year long, as he's recorded 13 top-20 finishes and a win in his last 17 starts. All of those finishes came in full-field PGA Tour events, too. The FedEx St. Jude Championship features an abbreviated field of just 70 players, so it should be even easier for Fowler to notch a top-20 finish this week.

Fowler has two top-15 finishes at TPC Southwind in four starts, and I think he contends for a win this time around.

Russell Henley top-20 finish (+130 FanDuel)

Like Fowler, Russell Henley has been in impressive form for some time now. The American has recorded nine top-20 finishes over his last 12 starts, and he's coming off a T2 finish at last week's Wyndham Championship.

Henley has been on fire with his irons lately, and he's been the most accurate driver of the golf ball on the PGA Tour all year. Keeping it straight off the tee and dialing in the irons are the two most important keys to success at TPC Southwind, so Henley's game fits this course perfectly.

Brendon Todd > Sahith Theegala (-110 DK)

This is a matchup between two players going in opposite directions right now. Brendon Todd is playing some of his best golf of the season right now with a T7 and a T2 over his last three starts. The 38-year-old hits his driver as straight as anyone on the PGA Tour, which is crucial at TPC Southwind with water lurking around every corner, and he's gained strokes with his irons and putter in three straight starts.

Meanwhile, Sahith Theegala has missed three straight cuts and hasn't recorded a top-20 finish since April. He's lost nearly 10 strokes on approach over his last four starts, and that's not a promising trend heading into an event that demands precise ball striking. This is my favorite matchup bet of the week by a wide margin.

Byeong Hun An top South Korean (+275 DK)

Byeong Hun An has played some brilliant golf over the last month. The 31-year-old finished T2 at the Wyndham Championship, T23 at the Open Championship, and T3 at the Scottish Open in his last three starts, and he gained strokes putting in all three after switching to a longer flatstick in June.

There are only three other players in the top South Korean market. Tom Kim is the favorite, and he's also playing well, but he withdrew from the Wyndham last week due to an ankle injury. That makes him particularly volatile this week.

Sungjae Im is always dangerous, but he has five missed cuts and just two top-20 finishes over his last 10 starts. And Si Woo Kim has lost more than 13 strokes putting over his last three events. I love An in this prop market.
