Golf best bets: Outright picks for the Grant Thornton Invitational

Fans of both the PGA Tour and LPGA Tour are rejoicing this week, as players from both leagues will team up this week for the inaugural Grant Thornton Invitational from Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Fla. The field consists of 16 duos competing in a scramble, foursomes and modified fourball over three rounds. The powerful duo of Tony Finau and Nelly Korda is the betting favorite to win the team event, but there's more value further down the board.

Here are the two outright bets we're targeting for the Grant Thornton Invitational.

Ludvig Aberg/Madelene Sagstrom (+700 DraftKings)

This Swedish team should be the betting favorite to win this week. Ludvig Aberg is the hottest golfer on the PGA Tour right now, as he's racked up two wins and six top-10 finishes over his last eight worldwide starts. He hasn't finished worse than T14 in that span, and he finished his rookie season with the highest birdie or better percentage on the PGA Tour.

His teammate, Madelene Sagstrom, is an experienced golfer in team events with three Solheim Cup appearances under her belt. She also ranks ninth on the LPGA Tour in driving distance this season, which gives this duo a major advantage over the rest of the field.

Nick Taylor/Ruoning Yin (+1400 DK)

We're riding the PGA Tour player with our first outright selection, but we're backing the LPGA star with our second pick.

Ruoning Yin won the KPMG Women's PGA Championship in June, and she has six top-seven finishes over her last 10 starts. The World No. 2 also ranks sixth on the LPGA Tour this season in scoring average, so her ability to stack birdies makes this a dangerous team.

Nick Taylor also enters the Grant Thornton Invitational in solid form, as he has a win and six top-25 finishes over his last 10 starts. This duo is a tad undervalued in the betting market.
