Graeme McDowell to withdraw from Travelers after caddie tests positive for COVID-19

Graeme McDowell is set to withdraw from the Travelers Championship on Wednesday following the news that his caddie has tested positive for the coronavirus.

"For the protection of the field and for my own physical and mental well-being, I'm going to take a test tomorrow morning then jump on a private plane," McDowell said Tuesday night, according to Golfweek's Eamon Lynch. "I'm going to get myself out of here, home to Florida and decide whether I need to quarantine myself from my family."

McDowell's caddie, Ken Comboy, believes he may have been exposed to the virus after the Charles Schwab Challenge two weeks ago when he was forced to fly in a full commercial flight to Orlando because his private plane was too small for his traveling party.

McDowell tested negative on Monday and has shown no symptoms. The 40-year-old has informed the Tour of who he was in close proximity of while at Travelers, which included a practice round with Brooks Koepka and Shane Lowry.

McDowell is the third golfer to withdraw from PGA Tour events because of the coronavirus. Cameron Champ withdrew from the Travelers Championship on Tuesday after testing positive and Nick Watney tested positive during last week's match in Hilton Head.

The Travelers Championship is set to get underway on Thursday, June 25 and run until June 28. Rory McIlroy currently has the best odds of winning at 12-1, according to CBS Sports.
