Greg Norman: LIV Golf has 'no interest' in sitting down with PGA Tour

The LIV Golf Series will hold its fifth tournament since its inception with the LIV Golf Invitational Chicago this weekend . Ahead of the event, CEO and commissioner Greg Norman addressed the topic of a possible "truce" with the PGA Tour, according to a report by ESPN's Mark Schlabach.

"We have no interest in sitting down with them, to be honest with you, because our product is working," the former two-time major winner said.

Per Schlabach, the PGA Tour and LIV Golf have been in a "fierce" battle to retain, or in the controversial breakaway league's case, pry away, the best golfers in the world for most of 2022. LIV Golf is financed by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund.

PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan has been unwilling to sit down with Norman and company, despite now a bevy of past major championship winners joining LIV Golf. Among them include Cameron Smith, Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka and Bubba Watson, who have signed bonuses reportedly worth as much as $100 million to $200 million.

"That's why we are where we are today," Norman said. "We tried awfully hard -- I know I did personally for the past year. ... When we knew we were never going to hear from them, we just decided to go."

According to Schlabach's report, more than two dozen PGA Tour members have defected to LIV Golf, including a handful who have resigned their memberships.
