In the pre-tournament press conference on Tuesday ahead of the 2024 Masters, World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler dropped a bold take regarding the sport. The American golfer reflected back on the supported provided by his family and claimed golf “doesn’t define” him.
At the moment, Scheffler is one of the person everyone in the golfing world looks upon. His consistency and incredible performances have made him one of the stars to watch to for. However, for him, golf is just something he does and is not his life.
Speaking in the conference, Scottie Scheffler opened up about his childhood and informed how his father never looked at him as a golfer and never pushed him to become good at this sport.
My dad never really looked at me as a golfer. He never pushed me to become a good golfer. That was never what he wanted for me. My parents pushed more education and being kind to people on me… Golf is just something that I do… It’s a tremendously huge part of my life. But it doesn’t define me as a person.

When asked what defines him the most, the 2022 Masters champion would answer with the word “faith“.
It’s hard to describe the feeling, but I think that’s what defines me the most is my faith. I believe in one creator, that I’ve been called to come out here, do my best, compete and glorify God, and that’s pretty much it.

Brandel Chamblee makes wild prediction regarding Scottie Scheffler at 2024 Masters
There is no doubt that Scottie Scheffler is one of the best in the business at the moment. His world ranking and recent victories at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Players Championship have made him one of the favorites to walk away with the green jacket this year. Golf analyst Brandel Chamblee has now made a wild prediction regarding this.
While Chamblee does think Scheffler could walk away as the winner, he has predicted a huge margin of victory. Speaking on ‘Live From The Masters‘, Chamblee claimed that he (Scheffler) could snatch the first major of the year by at least 8-10 shots if he putts good.
It’s maybe a little bit early to be predicting a blowout victory, but look… If Scheffler putts good, I could see him winning by eight or ten shots. Well, he’s first in approach play, and he’s fourth in scrambling. You add those two numbers together, that’s five. Nobody has come in there with anything less than 20.

So far the biggest margin of victory at the Masters is 12 shots, which came in 1997 when a young Tiger Woods stunned the world. Woods would fire scores of 70-66-65-69 to finish the event 18-under 270 to claim his first major championship. He later went on to claim four more victories at Augusta but none were this dominant.
