Jordan Spieth missed time due to testing positive for COVID-19

Jordan Spieth won the Valero Texas Open in early April and seemed to be accumulating momentum when he finished tied for third at the Masters. 

He then found himself sidelined for a month due to a positive COVID-19 test result. 

Per Bob Harig of ESPN, Spieth told reporters on Tuesday that he first noticed coronavirus symptoms roughly 10 days after the Masters and ahead of the Zurich Classic in New Orleans. The 27-year-old admitted he endured a bad "day and a half" before dealing with "sinus stuff" and a loss of energy but added that his wife never got sick. 

Spieth hasn't competed since the Masters finished on April 11. 

"I would say the last week to week and a half now, I've been acting as if it never happened," he explained. "I've just gone about my days ... feeling full of energy and being able to hit kind of full workouts and practice sessions and all that kind of stuff. So [it] just kind of set me back a little bit.

"If there's ever a good time during the season, it kind of worked out OK. But I was planning to continue to play. I wasn't planning on taking a month off in the spring. So, at this point, it's get back to playing golf and try and get in the same rhythm I was in and just be patient with it." 

Spieth is No. 28 in the current PGA Tour world rankings.
