In a shocking twist of events, Lucas Glover , the six-time PGA Tour champion, suddenly withdrew his name from the WM Phoenix Open. The reason for this though was a hilarious one.
The 44-year-old American was one of the attractive names in the playing field. However, he completely missed his tee-time as he misread some of his text messages. Due to this unfortunate slip-up he had to take back his name.
Glover was originally scheduled to tee off at 8:26 a.m. With him no where in sight at the time, the officials would reach out to him. It was at this moment, the golfer realized his major error.
He was still in the hotel room and was likely not going to make it to the course on time. To avoid facing automatic disqualification, he withdraw his name from event and thus missed the Phoenix Open.

Glover now becomes the third golfer this week to withdraw from the Phoenix Open at TPC Scottsdale. Earlier, World No. 4 Viktor Hovland and No.5 Xander Schauffеlе also decided not to participate in the event and took a break.
How is the WM Phoenix Open leaderboard shaping up after Round 1?
While Lucas Glover might have ended up missing the event due to a hilarious slip-up, there were others who were actually on time for the event. One of them was Sahith Theegala who emerged as the leader.
The American golfer is in great form recently and once again continued to impress the fans. He shot 6-under 65 on Thursday to take the lead after Round 1. The big catch though here is that the event was severely affected by the weather.
A huge three-and-a-half hour weather delay saw only 65 golfers of the total 132 complete the round and play the full 18 holes. Theegala shot 33 on the front nine and followed it with a score of 32 on the back nine to finish the day with a score of 65.
Usually it's one or two things that kind of hold up the round, but it felt like through the bag I did something good with every club, it felt like. It was a great feeling. Sahith Theegala on his Round 1 performance as per Golf Channel.
Current World No. 1 and defending champion Scottie Scheffler is currently 1-under after six holes. He suffered a slight bump at the start and carded a bogey on the first hole. However, he was able to bounce back from this early setback and managed back-to-back birdies to come back in contention.
It now remains to be seen how the weather delay will affect Round 2 and the leaderboard going forward. Theegala on the other hand would be hoping for a similar performance on Friday as he sets sight on his first win of the new season.
