LIV Golf joins player-led antitrust lawsuit against PGA Tour

LIV Golf has joined the antitrust lawsuit against the PGA Tour, according to an amended complaint filed this week.

On top of adding the Saudi-backed league to the complaint, four players — Abraham Ancer, Carlos Ortiz, Jason Kokrak and Pat Perez — were removed from the suit.

The amended suit was filed Friday in the U.S. District Court in Northern California.

The lawsuit claims the PGA Tour has unfairly suspended players and used its position to hold competitors like LIV Golf down.

Ahead of Wednesday's PGA finale in Atlanta, Georgia, Tour commissioner Jay Monahan said he wouldn't drop suspensions for golfers who defected to LIV Golf.

Amid the growth of its budding competitor, the PGA has attempted to make changes to improve the sport and keep golfers around. Several changes have already been announced, including the addition of 12 tournaments with increased purses between $15 million and $20 million.

Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy are also leading the charge toward positive change in the PGA. The duo and a group of top players recently helped finalize a proposal to "dramatically reshape" the Tour and organized a players-only meeting regarding LIV Golf.
