LIV Golf Mayakoba best bets: Joaquin Niemann is hot, hot, hot

You might be aware of LIV Golf's momentum after the Saudi-backed league recently poached Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton away from the PGA Tour, but did you know its 2024 season begins this week? That's right, despite its lack of publicity, LIV Golf will begin its third season this weekend at El Camaleon Golf Course at Mayakoba.

And guess what. We have betting odds! Let's scroll down the odds board and target three outright bets for LIV Golf Mayakoba.

Joaquin Niemann (+1200 FanDuel)

Joaquin Niemann has lower odds than Hatton, Bryson DeChambeau, Cameron Smith and Brooks Koepka, but this number is warranted when you look at his recent form. The Chilean has played three DP World Tour events since the 2023 LIV Golf season concluded. He won the ISPS Handa Australian Open in December and finished solo fifth and solo fourth in the other two tournaments.

Niemann finished T5 at El Camaleon as a member of the PGA Tour in 2022, so he also has past success at this golf course. Not many LIV Golf players have tournament experience of late, but Niemann is coming in on fire.

Charles Howell III (+3300 FD)

Charles Howell III is an auto bet whenever he plays El Camaleon. On the PGA Tour, Howell recorded three top-10 finishes and nine top-25s in 12 starts at Mayakoba, and he won this event last year by a whopping four strokes.

Howell finished last season with two top-10 finishes in his last three starts, and his game fits this golf course perfectly. He could easily go back to back.

Caleb Surratt (+21000 FD)

Caleb Surratt, the 10th-ranked amateur in the world, will join Rahm and Hatton on LIV Golf's new expansion team. He won't generate the same buzz those two players will, but he's a supremely talented golfer who shouldn't be this low down the odds board.

In his freshman year at Tennessee, Surratt won the SEC Championship, posted the lowest scoring average in school history and was named a First Team All-American. We're betting on talent here at a huge price.
