Padraig Harrington withdraws from Pebble Beach Pro-Am due to positive COVID-19 test

Ryder Cup captain Padraig Harrington missed the cut at last week's Waste Management Phoenix Open but was looking to get back on track at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

However, the 49-year-old won't be playing in that tournament after he recorded a positive COVID-19 test result. The PGA Tour announced that first alternate Bae Sang-moon will take Harrington's place.

Harrington addressed his coronavirus symptoms via Twitter on Tuesday afternoon:

As noted by ESPN and the Associated Press, Harrington had made seven consecutive cuts worldwide until last week's setback.

Late Monday night, World No. 1 Dustin Johnson withdrew from the Pebble Beach Pro-Am but for a different reason.

"Following his successful week in Saudi Arabia, Dustin has decided it would be best to enjoy a week at home before The Genesis Invitational and the World Golf Championships at The Concession," David Winkle, Johnson's agent and manager, said in a statement shared by Golf Channel

"Other than being a bit jet lagged, he is feeling great and looking forward to the weeks ahead. While he is disappointed to miss the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, which is always one of his favorite weeks, he feels his decision is for the best."
