PGA Tour: Here's how Justin Thomas can make the FedEx Cup playoffs

With the FedEx Cup playoffs inching closer, PGA Tour fans have been inundated by speculation over whether Justin Thomas will make the cut.

The 2022 PGA Championship winner currently sits outside of the top 70 in the FedEx Cup ranking and has just one final opportunity to get into the mix with the Wyndham Championship closing out the regular season this weekend. But Thomas doesn't need to completely top the leaderboard to punch his ticket back into the playoff scenario.

As it turns out, Thomas only needs to finish within the top 18 at Sedgefield Country Club this weekend to have a shot at going on his eighth straight playoff run.

Of course, finishing 18th or better is something Thomas has uncharacteristically struggled with this season. He has just three top-10 finishes on the season and has missed the cut in five of his last seven starts, including at the 3M Open last weekend.

Thomas is keeping his game face on, however.

"I'm very confident, I am," Thomas said this week, via CBS Sports. "It's different than trying to win a tournament or making a putt for a Ryder Cup or Presidents Cup, whatever it may be, but it's still that same feeling.

"I was and am so excited to be playing this week."

DraftKings lists Thomas as a 40-1 long shot to top the leaderboard at the Wyndham Classic, and at 4-1 to finish in the top 10. The event tees off on Thursday.
