Anthony Kim, a former golf phenom who left the PGA Tour almost 12 years ago, is plotting a comeback to professional golf and has had discussions with both the tour and LIV Golf, multiple reports said Thursday.

Kim won three times on the PGA Tour before age 25: twice in 2008 and once in 2010. He rose as high as No. 6 in the Official World Golf Ranking early in his career. But injuries and surgeries derailed his rise.

Kim, who had three top-10 major finishes from 2008 to 2011, disappeared from the public eye after hurting his Achilles tendon and having surgery in 2012. He reportedly gave up golf for a period of time.

Golf.com reported that Kim has been in talks with both the PGA Tour and LIV while ramping up his golf game and getting in shape over the past few months.

Should Kim return, he would forfeit a disability insurance policy that dates to his playing days, estimated at $10 million.

LIV CEO and commissioner Greg Norman could be interested in signing Kim on a one-year contract and have him play as a "wild card" rather than a member of one of the 13 four-member teams, according to Golf.com.
