Scottie Scheffler wins 2022 Masters, earning first major championship

For the third year in a row, there is a first-time Masters champion.

At just 25 years old, Scheffler is the youngest Masters victor since fellow-American Jordan Spieth earned the green jacket at the age of 21 in 2015. Scheffler finished three strokes ahead of runner-up Rory McIlory, who had a record-tying final round on Sunday.

According to ESPN and the Associated Press, Scheffler now has four win in his last six PGA Tour tournaments, all of which have come in the last 56 days. The Dallas native captured a win at the Phoenix Open in a playoff on Feb. 13, delivered a victory at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in early March and then took first place at the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play two weeks ago.

With Sunday's win at the Masters, Scheffler pocketed $2.7 million and has now earned $8,872,200 over his last six starts.
