This long shot is Golf.com's pick to win WGC Match Play this weekend

There aren't any shockers when it comes to who is favored to win the 2023 WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play event this weekend. Scottie Scheffler is the overwhelming favorite, Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy have the next shortest odds—you get the drill. But if you're interested in putting some money down on a long shot for this weekend's event, Golf.com might have the perfect pick for you.

The sister site to Golf Magazine published a piece on Monday in support of 2019 Dell Match Play winner Kevin Kisner, who is a 125-1 long shot at BetMGM. Despite missing four cuts in eight starts so far this season, the publication is confident that Kisner can break the competition at Austin Country Club wide open.

"When it comes to match play, Kisner is something of a savant," the article details. "In six starts at the WGC Match Play since it has been held at Austin Country Club, Kisner has two runner-up finishes, including at last year’s event."

It's true. The 39-year-old is 2-18-1-2 over his last four starts at Austin Country Club. So even though his highest finish so far this season is a T29 at the RSM Classic, it's easy to see why Golf.com is so intrigued with him ahead of the event.

Kisner will get plenty of attention when Match Play tees off whether fans are betting on him or not, as the South Carolina native has been put in a rather interesting group including world No. 6 Max Homa to start the competition.

The 2023 WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play tees off on Wednesday, March 22.
