This top-15 PGA pro is the favorite to win the Sony Open in Hawaii

The 2023 PGA Tour season is underway, and the golf world now sets its sights on the upcoming Sony Open in Hawaii next weekend. After world-ranked No. 5 Jon Rahm staged a remarkable come-from-behind victory at the Sentry Tournament of Champions in Kapalua, the biggest names in the game are under the spotlight as they try to climb the ranks.

But who is the favorite to win at Waiʻalae Country Club this weekend?

According to major sportsbooks, world-ranked No. 14 Tom Kim is the heavy favorite to win the Sony Open. The Seoul, South Korea product tied for fifth at the Sentry Tournament of Champions last weekend.

Fellow countryman Sungjae Im is the next favorite in the odds, followed by three-time major winner Jordan Spieth.

While the victor at the Sony Open will receive substantial winnings and a win on the season, gaining any ground in the world ranking will still be difficult. The recently revamped ranking system has made it so the rankings don't shift as greatly — Rahm remained at No. 5 despite winning the Sentry last weekend — so it isn't likely Kim or anyone else will make too big of a leap after winning the Sony Open. But, a change in the ranks is still very possible.

The Sony Open in Hawaii tees off on Thursday.
