Tiger Woods announces return, will compete in PNC Championship

The PGA stage will once again be graced with the iconic red-shirt-black-slacks combo as golf icon Tiger Woods announced via social media on Wednesday he will compete in the upcoming PNC Championship.

The event, taking place at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando in less than two weeks, is set to showcase golf icons and their kin. Woods, 45, plans to compete for a second year in a row with his 12-year-old son, Charlie.

The announcement didn't come out of nowhere, as rumors began swirling after the golf great was shown hitting long drives at the Hero World Challenge -- and sporting the iconic "Sunday red" while he did it.

Woods' return to the links, of course, comes less than a year after he almost lost his leg in a mysterious early-morning single-car crash. It was far from the first time the golfer's personal life has nearly derailed his career.

Nevertheless, the golf community continued to support Woods as he recovered from the crash. His opponents/friends even adopted his Sunday wardrobe as a show of support while he was in recovery.
