Tiger Woods set to make first playing appearance since July

The golf world has been wondering when Tiger Woods would hit the links competitively again. And fans everywhere got their answer on Wednesday when the 15-time major winner announced he will compete in the Hero World Challenge, which kicks off on November 28.

Woods hosts the event. However, it wasn't clear until now whether he would play or not.

It will be Woods' first event since the Open Championship at St. Andrews in July and is one of three events he is expected to compete in.

It was also announced earlier this week that Woods will team up with good friend and World No. 1 Rory McIlroy for the latest installment of "The Match" which is set to take place on December 10. He will also potentially compete alongside his son, Charlie, in the PNC Championship on December 17.

For the Hero Challenge, Woods will compete alongside fellow PGA Tour heavy hitters Scottie Scheffler, Jon Rahm, Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa, and Jordan Spieth, just to name a few. He and McIlroy will compete against a teamed-up Thomas and Spieth at "The Match."

While Woods hasn't competed in nearly six months, he certainly hasn't been out of the public eye. The Big Cat has been a very vocal advocate for the PGA Tour alongside McIlroy as the rival LIV Golf circuit continues to polarize the sports world and poach some of the world's best talent. Woods and McIlroy held a closed-door meeting with some of the PGA Tour's top players over the summer to discuss how to move forward and combat the Saudi Arabia-funded tour. All competitors at this year's Hero Challenge were reportedly part of the closed-door meeting.

The 46-year-old missed the cut at the Open in July, while coming in 47th at The Masters earlier in the year.
