U.S. Open best bets: 3 juicy longshots to target at the U.S. Open

Major championships haven't been kind to longshots over the past few years, but Los Angeles Country Club will provide a layout that should bring more names into play than just the Scottie Schefflers and the Jon Rahms of the world. Here are three juicy longshots I'll be targeting with outright and finishing position bets at the U.S. Open.

Min Woo Lee 100/1

Min Woo Lee is a name you need to know going forward in professional golf. The talented 24-year-old started his career on the DP World Tour before earning Special Temporary Membership on the PGA Tour after his T18 at the PGA Championship. Lee can struggle with his irons, but his combination of power off the tee and touch around the greens makes him an enticing longshot this week.

Harris English 200/1

Harris English doesn't have the consistency the top players on the PGA Tour possess, but he loves himself a challenging golf course. The American has finished inside the top five in two of his last three U.S. Open appearances. His best finish this season came with a T2 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, one of the toughest tests of golf on the PGA Tour schedule. Don't be surprised if English is in contention on Sunday.

Michael Thorbjornsen 600/1

The golf sickos are going to love this one.

Michael Thorbjornsen, an amateur golfer and rising senior at Stanford University, is a supremely talented youngster who will be a household name in a few years. He won the 2018 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship to qualify for the U.S. Open and made the cut at the age of 17. This season, he won the Pac-12 Conference title and led Stanford to the NCAA Championships. There's a reason Adidas has already signed this kid to a NIL deal.
