U.S. Open: Here are the odds last year's winner has repeat success

Last year's U.S. Open ended in thrilling fashion as Matt Fitzpatrick held off Scottie Scheffler and Will Zalatoris down the stretch and won his first event since joining the PGA Tour.

Now the big event has come back up on the calendar and the Englishman is tasked with defending his title. But do oddsmakers think Fitzpatrick can pull off another upset when the U.S. Open takes over Los Angeles Country Club this weekend?

Despite being the defending champion, DraftKings lists Fitzpatrick as a 35-1 long shot to win the 2023 U.S. Open. This is likely due to the 28-year-old having a rollercoaster of a campaign.

Fitzpatrick has four top-10 finishes on the season, including a win at the RBC Heritage where he beat Jordan Spieth in a playoff, but he has also missed five cuts including at the PGA Championship a few weeks back. He most recently T20 at the RBC Canadian Open.

As for the favorites in the upcoming major, world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler leads the pack at 7-1 odds. Jon Rahm follows at 10-1 and PGA Championship winner Brooks Koepka is the next favorite at 11-1. World No. 3 Rory McIlroy and No. 4 Patrick Cantlay are both listed at 14-1 at DK to win.

The U.S. Open tees off on Thursday.
