Golf icon Tiger Woods was in a scary single-car crash early Tuesday morning on the border of Rolling Hills Estates and Rancho Palos Verdes in California. His vehicle ended up rolling over, and responders needed to use the “jaws of life” to get him out of the automobile.

Shortly after the accident, it came out why Woods was in such a tremendous hurry. This prompted many to ask: Was he driving recklessly?

Newly released footage from TMZ answers that question to some degree. In the clip, Woods can be seen driving on Hawthorne Blvd. just minutes before the crash.

In the video, Woods’ Genesis GV80 SUV can clearly be seen driving behind a minivan. At that moment, he didn’t seem to be driving particularly fast.

That said, per TMZ, Woods narrowly avoided a different crash prior to the one that occurred.

“Tiger was staying at a hotel where a major network television show was being shot,” the story read. “Production sources tell TMZ, when the director arrived just before 7 AM, Tiger was driving his SUV very fast as he was leaving the property and almost hit the director’s car. The director was shaken enough to tell production staff about it after he parked.”

Woods was said to have appeared “agitated and impatient” on his way out.

Beyond what happened as Woods was departing, details remain scarce on the specifics that led up to his accident.

Woods ended up suffering severe lower-body injuries and multiple fractures that were stabilized by inserting a rod into his leg.

Woods had yet to play this season due to the fact that he was recovering from back surgery. Between his health issues related to that and now the new ones that have come as a result of the crash, the road to recovery will not be an easy one for the 45-year-old.
