Watch: Swarm of bees interrupts PGA event in Mexico
The Mexico Open was interrupted on Thursday afternoon when a swarm bees took over the 10th hole just as Erik van Rooyen was set to hit his approach shot.
Golfers, caddies, spectators and photographers all had to hit the deck and scramble for safety to avoid the swarm as chaos unfolded on the fairway.

The wildest part of that scene comes was when the person holding the camera has to drop down as well, with their video still filming.
This is not the first time insects -- and especially bees -- have briefly interrupted sporting events or caused a massive disruption. In 2019, a Miami Marlins-San Diego Padres game had to be delayed for 28 minutes after a swarm of bees decided to take up residence on a microphone that was attached to the netting near the Padres dugout.
There was also "the bug game" that took place in Cleveland in 2007. During Game 2 of the American League Divisional Series matchup between the New York Yankees and now-Cleveland Guardians a swarm of gnats interrupted playoff proceedings. Then-Yankees pitcher Joba Chamberlain was especially disturbed by the swarm and struggled to pitch through it.
The 2023 Mexico Open is being played at Vidanta Vallarta. The Mexico Open has been played for more than 40 years, but this is only the second time it has been played as a PGA Tour event. The bees clearly were not happy with that.
