Report: Texas official has serious doubts about high school football season

Clear eyes.

Full hearts.

No football?

As reported by NPR and other outlets, Texas setting daily records of coronavirus cases of more than 10,000 is quickly becoming commonplace following the July 4 holiday weekend, and there's no end in sight amid the ongoing pandemic.

On the same day that ESPN's Paul Finebaum said "the college football season is slipping away" due to the uncontrolled virus outbreak, Dallas ISD superintendent Michael Hinojosa told MSNBC's Garrett Haake that there may be no high school football in all of Texas:

According to Brian Gosset of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Hinojosa said: "That’s a true contact sport, I don’t see how we can pull that off. There’s been some discussion of moving it to the spring, but we’ll have to wait and see. I don’t, I seriously doubt that we can pull that off."

Thus far, officials have made no changes to high school schedules.

On Wednesday, the Ivy League canceled all fall sports, including football, due to the pandemic. The league is considering a conference-only spring football schedule, but no announcement is imminent.
