Watch: Wild ending to HS football game features blocked kick, premature celebration before winning TD
A Pittsburgh-area high school football game on Friday night had one of the most improbable endings you will ever see, featuring a blocked field goal, a premature celebration and the kicking team returning the blocked kick for a game-winning touchdown.
Here is the scene: Pittsburgh Central Catholic, trailing by a single point, was lining up for a potential game-winning 49-yard field goal against Penn Hills.
Penn Hills blocked the kick, seemingly clinching what would have been a one-point win and immediately began celebrating on the field.
There was only one problem: Because the kick did not cross the line of scrimmage, it was still a live ball.
It was then picked up by Central Catholic offensive lineman Anthony Shovlin who ran it in for a game-winning touchdown.
That is a brutal way to lose a football game, and a thrilling and improbable way to win a football game.
