MiLB.com comes out every offseason honoring players within an organization who had an amazing year regardless of age or level.
Two familiar names pop up for the Angels' All-Star cast, Jo Adell and Trey Cabbage.
Trey Cabbage was the first basemen All-Star for his incredible year in 2023 in AAA.
On the season, Cabbage hit a .306 average along with 30 home runs, 89 RBIs, and 32 stolen bases.
"More than eight years after he was drafted, the 26-year-old earned his first big league promotion and was named as the Angels’ Hitting Prospect of the Year. Cabbage was one of only two Minor Leaguers to produce a 30-30 season this year, setting career highs in both categories. He couldn’t find that same consistency in two different trips to the Majors. But he finished with the organization lead in homers, slugging and OPS (.975)."
Cabbage was a complete hitter in the Minors and even made his MLB debut with the Angels this season recording his first career MLB home run.
Jo Adell has been atop the Angels prospect list for years and has always shown flashes in his early years with the Angels, but this year in AAA he kept the potential flashing mashing throughout the season.
On the season in AAA Adell hit .273 with 24 home runs.
Adell appeared in 17 games for the Angels in 2023 and continued to show his pure power at the plate while also starting to show more discipline and work longer counts.
Adell is looking to take a big leap this offseason and try to secure a corner outfield spot within the Angels MLB roster.
Combining his elite speed and athleticism with a talented bat that he showed in the Minors, would make a great young player to go along with Zach Neto and Logan O'Hoppe.
