Aaron Judge after hitting 62nd home run: 'It's a big relief'

Yankees slugger Aaron Judge was all smiles as he addressed the media after breaking Roger Maris' American League record with his 62nd home run of the season on Tuesday night.

"It's a big relief. I think everybody can finally sit down in their seats and watch the ball game," Judge told reporters.

Judge's even-keeled attitude has been tested during the home run chase. It took exactly two weeks for Judge to get to No. 62 after hitting No. 60, creating a stretch of games that put all of the attention on his plate appearances even in the middle of a postseason race.

In the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader, Judge slammed his helmet with frustration in the dugout - a level of emotion that wouldn't be noticeable in most cases but was for Judge, who rarely wears his emotions on his sleeve.

"It's been an honor," Judge said Tuesday night, adding that his name being mentioned alongside Maris and Babe Ruth is "incredible."

Judge thanked his family and teammates for their support throughout the chase and made special mention of Roger Maris' family, which was in attendance for a handful of games in New York and Toronto. Judge has now rewritten Maris' 61-year-old record and etched himself into the history books.
